The slender, red peppers reach up to 15cm (6″) long with a slightly wrinkled appearance when fully ripe. They can be used green or left to ripen to scarlet red.  These chillies are often dried and ground to make cayenne pepper.

Chili Cayenne plants is a Capsicum annuum species and belongs to the nightshade family. Annuum means annual in botany. However, cayenne plants grow older than twelve months when properly cared for and wintered, so you will need to keep them indoor or in a greenhouse.
