Description

An interesting ornamental perennial with spiny, thick leaves.  Steel blue thistle like flowers are produced from June through September. This perennial plant is tolerant of salty, coastal winds and dry, sandy soils. It also does well in inland gardens. The flowers are useful for cutting or drying.

This is a tap rooted plant that transplants poorly and is best left undisturbed once established. Plants will slowly spread in the garden over time.

Easily grown in dry, sandy, well-drained soils in full sun.
