Description
A wonderful low-maintenance mound forming plant. This lovely perennial bears informal sprays of pure white single and double, pom-pom flowers which are borne over a long period above finely toothed, dark green leaves.
Perfect for growing in an informal or cottage garden scheme, or as a foil for more colourful plants. It makes a wonderful cut flower. It’s particularly attractive to hoverflies.
A favourite of Edwardian garden designer Gertrude Jekyll, it is excellent for the middle of a sunny, well-drained border, especially when planted as a large drift and looks great with a backdrop of evergreens, they are also useful fillers In between other border plants in mixed borders and cottage gardens.
Likes any well-drained soil in full sun. Cut back faded blooms to prolong flowering. Never allow plants to become waterlogged.
