An unusual perennial with long arching ‘fishing rods’ carrying beautiful pendulous flower bells of deep maroon, which sway in the breeze above tough narrow grass-like foliage.
The wands of flowers are tall and strong, up to 3 feet high, but never need staking. Flowering is from July to August.
This plant does not like to dry out and in fact look at their best arching over water. Can be slow to establish and resent disturbance, but they are worth the effort.
Likes any moist well-drained soil in full sun.
