This ‘Black Grass’ is an extraordinary evergreen perennial plant with purple-green leaves turning jet black when planted in full sun and very well draining soil. This is a dwarf grass perfect for borders, rock gardens or raised beds, and containers. It makes an excellent groundcover plant with its clump forming habit. In summer small spikes of bell shaped, pale mauve flowers appear followed by small glossy black fruit making this a spectacular and brilliant addition to any garden.
Likes any moist but very well drained soil (preferably slightly acidic, but mine thrives in chalk) in full sun or partial shade.
