Description
An evergreen clump-forming perennial with grey-green upright leaves fringed with cream, and a strong garlic smell. Beautiful large heads of lavender blooms held on tall stems are produced from mid-summer to early autumn.
For best results grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. In colder regions plants may need protection from frost – alternatively grow in containers which you can move indoors in autumn.
A native of South Africa. Both leaves and flowers are edible, both have an onion flavour.
